Fall 2008

Don’t Miss the 2009 SWPP
Annual Conference Set For
March 18-20 in Nashville!

We know that conference and travel budgets are tight in this tough economy. But we are planning another fabulous SWPP Annual Conference, and hope you will be able to join us March 18-20 in Nashville. If you can only attend one conference in 2009, this should be the one!

Nowhere else will you find so many sessions focused solely on workforce management issues. Nowhere else will you find your workforce management peers from all over the world to network with in an informal setting. And nowhere else will you have access to all the top workforce management technology vendors in one place, ready to answer your questions.

The agenda is being set, and the lineup of sessions is impressive. Take a look at this partial list of new sessions for 2009:

  • Secrets of a Forecast Junkie
  • Software and Staffing Synergy: Scheduling for Phone and Non-Phone Contacts
  • A World Without Handle Time
  • Agent Productivity: Ending the Guessing Game
  • Planned Performance vs. Actual Performance: Explaining the variance
  • WFM – Key Architects in Business Model Redesign
  • Reluctant Recipients: How to Lead a Horse to Water
  • Erlang C versus Erlang A
  • The Search for Hidden Shrinkage
  • Scheduling by Preference: It’s All About Agent Expectations

With seven concurrent sessions going on in each workshop time slot, your hardest task will be to decide which one to attend. We will also have our Basic Track of sessions for those new to workforce management, as well as some Facilitated Discussion sessions so you can just talk about some top-of-mind issues with your peers. There are many case studies scheduled from companies such as Excellerx, International Cruise & Excursions, Bell Canada, Optum Health, and SunTrust Bank.
Need some help getting approval? Listen to the comments from last year’s attendees about what prompted them to register for the 2008 conference:

“My experience last year was a great one. The purpose for me to attend was to be inspired and share ideas with others. Last year I came back to work and did the Power of One presentation that I saw at the conference, which was very helpful for our agents. This year I was looking for information on Home Agents, e-mail planning, and multi-skill planning. I was able to attend sessions in all three areas and learned lots!” – Corki Stokka, CDS

“I’m beginning a new role within my department. I am responsible for gathering data and reporting to management on things going on within our department. This conference offered lots of beneficial information.” – Stephanie Alexander, Alltel
“I wanted to attend a conference that was based on WFM and put this in our budget and booked it before my travel budget was reduced. I am happy that I was able to attend because I found this to be the most useful conference that I have ever attended.”
– Tobin Hinebaugh, Neiman Marcus Direct

“My boss handed me the flyer and asked if I wanted to go — right after he gave me a list of things he wanted for me to calculate for our call center. The timing was perfect!” – Mark Schreiber, USCIS

“We went for the first time last year and came home with so many great ideas that it only made sense to return again this year.” – Natalie Robertson, Fairmont Hotels
“I was asked to choose one conference this year since our budget for such things has been scaled back.  I came to the SWPP conference because it always sends me back to the office fired up about Workforce Management and full of new ideas to try!”
– Lisa Elbe, Wescom Credit Union

“I have attended vendor supported conferences for the last several years.  I found this to be more independent and therefore of greater value.  I will surely be a repeat attendee in the years to come.” – Randall Cochran, Foremost Insurance
“This was my first SWPP conference.  It was a great conference. I have been to many other industry conferences, but those do not focus just on workforce management. This conference enabled me to network with many in my profession and knowledge share with many of the attendees. Thanks for providing a venue for this type of communication.”
– Alcario Ozuna, Harland Clarke

“This was the first time I attended the SWPP conference and my first order of business upon my return was to beg to attend next year.” – Andrea Christian, Sears Holding Corp.

As a first time participant, I was absolutely pleased with the value I received from this event. WFM is not something taught at the local university so I considered this my course for the semester. :) The most interaction I receive with other professionals is normally in the work place and our remote offices. It is nice to get out and get a fresh perspective from other peers in the business. – Sandy Wichert, PayPal
